Wella Professionals - Hair Care and Styling
In my second
blog on products, I will be looking at the other hair care and styling brand,
which Jack Anderson uses, which is Wella Professional.
Wella is a German company, and
one of the world’s leading cosmetics suppliers. Founded in 1880 by Franz Stroher,
with its headquarters in Darmstadt,
Germany, the company is represented in over 150
countries. It directly owns three business divisions - Professional, Consumer,
Cosmetics and Fragrances. All of them are exclusively dedicated to the
cosmetics area.
Procter &
Gamble acquired a controlling interest in Wella AG, giving
Procter and Gamble a major presence in the fast growing professional hair care
segment.
The sub-25 brand styling product ShockWaves! is
presently title sponsor of the UK NME Awards.
It seems Wella has been around for sometime, going way
back to 1880, that’s a long time for any company and it also means Wella has
seen trends throughout the 20th Century and is a leader in the
marketplace. Jack Anderson has
truly picked an iconic brand as part of his portfolio, which not only delivers
on affordability but also strives to be a trendsetter amongst trends and its
followers. Below is a link to from
the Wella Professionals website relating to Wella’s Vision and mission.
I also include Wella’s You Tube Channels link, this
includes Wella promotional materials, which look into both men and women’s hair
care/styling, and trends set for 2012.

An introduction to Label. M Hair Products
In my latest blog, I will be looking at hair care and
styling products/brands, these are at the heart of any hair salon. Jack Anderson favours two brands, Label
M and Wella Professional. In this
blog I will be primarily looking at Label M and how its ethos matches Jack
Anderson Hair Design in its ways of promoting the business as an affordable and
innovative approach to hair care and styling.
Label M is a part of the Toni & Guy portfolio, Toni
& Guy are a global hairdressing and education business founded by brothers
Guiseppe (Toni) and Gaetano (Guy) Mascolo in 1963 and is based in London in the
United Kingdom. Label M was
founded by Toni (surviving partner) and his daughter Sasha Mascolo-Tarbuck and
its primary function is hair and styling products for salon
professionals.
Having completed research on the Label M Brand, it matches
Jack Andersons approach to hairdressing in that hair styling etc should be
available to all at an affordable price while not scrimping on its
innovativeness in reinventing consumers hair styles and fashion trends. It was Jack Anderson who influenced my
decision to include this blog, as he wished me to learn of how Label M works
and its ethos in order to learn how Jack Anderson wishes to be viewed and what
his salon can offer the public of Dundee and surrounding areas, whilst
researching I noticed I myself owned a Label M product – Label M Shaper, this
purchase came form Poundland, which proves Label M is affordable, allowing its
products to be sold in cheaper retail outlets. Hair and Fashion can be viewed as big business but it is the
average consumer that aspires to the looks/styles which are mimicked on every
High Street in the United Kingdom and with this in mind I believe Label M and
salons that use these products will gain new clients within the next few years
due to the current economic conditions.
Hair doesn’t have to be expensive, it just need sound products in order
for a high end fashion look to be achieved.
Below I include some facts and pictures relating to the Label
M Brand.

Top Male and Female hairstyles of 1994
For my first official blog for the Jack Anderson Hair Design, blog page, I would like to take a step back in time to 1994. Jack Anderson first opened his doors to clients in 1994, at the time fashion and hair where making and taking big steps in transforming the way we looked, men especially were more interested in personal grooming in a time which before was more predominantly predisposed to a female market. I have researched the two biggest styles for male and female of 1994, for females the hottest look was the "Rachel" an iconic hairstyle which came synonymous with the character and the popular television series "Friends". This style had all women running to their hair stylists ready to snip them into copies of "Rachel" Males also had icons to look up to for their hot styles, Interview with a Vampire was released in 1994, starring two of the then and still running leading men of Hollywood - Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. Men's hairstyles were predominantly longer aspiring to the characters within the film, although many men aspired to have the long tresses, I feel only a select few men actually had the nerve to have their hair coiffed in this fashion, we have to remember 1994 was still a time before the metro sexual. Men had started to notice themselves more and were more interested in personal grooming but it would not be until the late 90's that the male boom in hair design would really explode.
I will ask Jack Anderson his thoughts on this blog shortly and will ask him to provide some further quotes on what he thinks rocked the hair world in 1994 and how he views my research on the "Rachel" and the "vampire" looks of 1994.
I include sourced photo's and some media inserts below, on which I based this blog.

So that's 1994, the year a bob came to the fore and mens hair was longer than women's.

The Rachel
The "Rachel" |
Unless you spent the 1990s in a box (or without a TV) then you should be familiar with the Rachel. Created by stylist Chris McMillan in 1994 for Jennifer Aniston when she played Rachel Green in Friends, the mid-length, layered bob has become as synonymous with the 1990s as grunge. The fact that the cut, cultivated through artful feathering and blow-dries, was actually a “shag” in all but name probably explains its ubiquity - around 11 million women had it. For Aniston, however, it all got a bit self-referential. “I think it was the ugliest haircut I’ve ever seen,” she told Allure magazine
recently
Brad Pitt |
Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt |
In “Interview with the Vampire”, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise both wear their hair long. This story was set in the 1700s when long tresses were common for men to wear. After this story was made into a movie in 1994, vampires and their look became more popular than ever. In fact, many longer hairstyles became mainstream for men that were all of one length due to Louie’s look in this film.
So that's 1994, the year a bob came to the fore and mens hair was longer than women's.
